After 5 weeks, things have exploded. Most are already bearing fruit including: almost all the tomato plants, yellow squash, banana peppers, jalapeΓ±o peppers, cayenne peppers, green peppers and eggplant. Nothing yet from the wtermelon, cucumbers or acorn squash but I’m hopeful. Scary to think some of these tomatoes were 1ft high a month ago and now they’re 7ft+!
Learned some important stuff so far though. Spraying with some kind of insecticide is important (preferable an organic, animal safe one). Otherwise lots of little guys will make a home in there. Also restake/ tie up your tomatos often, otherwise they’ll become hard to control. Adding new compost on their bases helps as that wears away. Just 5 mins in the morning checking/cleaning up is more than enough to keep things growing like mad. Probably would hav a better place for vine plants to grow than throgh my yard next time too.
